Landfill "Odor Hunting"
Pinpoint and isolate odorous gases emitting from the landfill cover.
Sniffer has developed a comprehensive method to identify odorous gas emissions sources from the landfill cover system. The method evolved from industry studies correlating the probability that hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and other odorous gases may be emitting from the same leak source as methane.
From this industry experience, Sniffer developed a method using the SnifferDRONE to identify low-level methane leak sources (~50 ppm) over the landfill cover system. At these locations, field technicians verify the leak source and location, then manually measure concentrations of odorous gases such as H2S. Our work has demonstrated a high correlation of pinpointing emission sources of odorous gases using low-level methane as a tracer gas.
